of Rainbows, Friends and Keats

It's been a while since my last entry.

Suffice to say its been a mad last 2 weeks.
New job, new challenges, new colleagues.

Did you ever think that Henry Mancini's Moon River song was about Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn? For the longest time, I've always thought of it as simple allegory to 2 friends/lovers wanting to escape the humdrum of mediocrity and explore the unknown world. Until last nite whilst shu and I were having coffee (in fact: shu had tea and i had this chocolate thing) and this song was played over the house music system, did we come to our conclusion that Henry was referring to Mark Twain's protoganists.

They travelled down the river on a raft, in search of adventure, in search of glory. But what they really found was a commonality between them, and that you never really outgrow the dreams of your youth, they just adapt to suit where you are. In the book, Tom and Huck grow distant, but eventually find that in each other, they see what each lacks and finally appreciate each other.

Tom: thanks for all the late nite chats and plotting to get our friends attached to each other. will really miss you when you head back.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend, my huckleberry
friend, Moon River and me.

Been jamming quite a bit. Ser, Val, Marv and Ian are great! I havent had so much fun in a jam for a long time. Altho' Ian has a propensity for making very interesting comments.

Ian: No more monkey business ok?
Ser: watermelon powder
'Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know

Do we really think we always see every side of the story?
