The Project

Meet RED.

Red is a Squier Affinity II Stratocaster by Fender.
Thanks to fellow GAS-er Evangion, Project RED FENDER is officially underway (several weeks late, mostly cos' I was lazy)

She's a beautiful colour, but then I've always had a thing for Red Guitars.

Even from the back, love that shine, hate that neckplate (which will be replaced with a decent looking FENDER neckplate).

Pretty standard swimming pool cavity here, but one of the cleaner swimming pools I've seen. (after you've dusted away all the remnant saw dust that is)

The tremolo block, the springs, the ground wire. Did I mention the block has a name? It's called SUNG IL. (Goodbye, Mr Sung)

Butterfly string-trees have got to go, Squier decal has got to go, crappy cheap "Squier" tuners have go to go.

Pickguard Reversed: Very neat job, inspite of the crappy soldering job done on the pots.
Pickups are stock Fender Squier (Whatever that means). Sitting just out of frame are a Lace Sensor RED and BLUE, which will be replacing the stock Bridge and Neck pups.

Something I've been wondering about, should I change the metal bits to gold bits?

Forgot to take a picture of the front of the pickguard, but its a standard 3 color White Black White pickguard, Evangion is bugging me to take the Pearloid one.

Well come back soon (not too soon) to see the further adventures of me and RED. The bank doesnt like it when i spend too much.
Edit : Been trying to date this Strat, but so far no luck, but the overall impression is that it's based on a 1982 Dan Smith Stratocaster.
